Rondo had suffered a sprained right ring finger against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. It was the third game that Rondo had played in since returning to the lineup after missing the previous 17 games due to a broken hand. This will mark the second time this season that Rondo will have surgery on his shooting hand.
It will be a rough go for the Lakers without LeBron James and Rondo. Last night was the team’s first game without LeBron all season. The Lakers ended up losing the game against the Sacramento Kings by a score of 117-116.
With Rondo on the sidelines, Lonzo Ball will be the Lakers starting point guard for the near future. The Lakers will lean on their younger players, as Rondo and James both could be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
