Someone recently commended me on my ability to still incorporate Sofia Coppola references into my editors’ picks and such and, guess what? I’m going to do it again. A recent photograph of her on vacation, posted to the Sofia Wine Instagram account (which I like to think she is secretly behind or at least oversees on some level), inspired me to totally rethink my approach to vacation dressing.
In it, she’s wearing a nice, lightweight pajama set (or some sort of pajama jumpsuit?) at the beach, which feels so much cooler and chicer than the typical swim coverup or Instagram-friendly sundress. On the hunt for something in the same vein — a look that’s not too vacation-y and yet still appropriate for vacation — I came across this pajama-inspired shorts set by new brand Matin on Net-a-Porter. Made of linen, it’s perfect for a trip somewhere warm (like Hawaii, where I’m going in a few weeks) and would add a little sophistication to my vacation wardrobe without sacrificing comfort and ease. Plus, I can wear the top with jeans when I’m home in Los Angeles.
Unfortunately I’m a little low on funds at the moment, due to having to pay for said vacation, so the set will have to sit in my wishlist for now and I’ll likely have to settle for my basic J.Crew pajama set. But if you’re feeling generous, feel free to find me on Venmo.
Matin Silk and Linen-Blend Shirt, $355, available here, and shorts, $265, available here.
