The Denver Broncos (6-9) are considered 6.5-point underdogs against the Los Angeles Chargers (11-4) in Week 17 of the 2018 NFL season, according to USA TODAY Sports’ odds tracker.
Considering that oddsmakers often spot the home team a three-point advantage, the Broncos are considered big underdogs this week.
Denver beat Los Angeles 23-22 earlier this season but after losing wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, cornerback Chris Harris and running back Phillip Lindsay to injuries, the Broncos are unlikely to upset a Chargers team fighting for the top seed in the AFC.
Denver has already been eliminated from playoff contention so losing its season finale could actually be beneficial. If the Broncos win on Sunday, they could select as low as 16th overall in next year’s draft. If they lose, they could select as high as 7th overall.
If the season ended today, Denver would be slated to select 12th overall. The team’s draft needs will include cornerback and offensive tackle. Next year’s draft will take place from April 25-27 in Nashville.
