Blog: An Upscale Seafood Newcomer Swims Ashore Along La Cienega

Journeyman chef Joe Miller is once again teaming up with some old friends. This time around he’s partnered with former Joe’s in Venice pal Joel Herzer for a casual seafood concept on La Cienega, tucked inside the former Le Petit Bistro space. The restaurant is to be called Pacifique, and it’s hosting friends and family dinners this week.

Look for Pacifique to be up and running for the rest of the city by the end of the month. The place already has an OpenTable page, though it’s not currently available for reservations. As for the 25-year-old restaurant space, the dining room has been updated with plush banquette seating, expansive mirrors, neutral tones, and contemporary details.

Miller is well known around Los Angeles, having formerly spent nearly a quarter century on Abbot Kinney in the space now occupied by Evan Funke’s Felix. Most recently he clocked in shorter stints at Santa Monica Spanish spot Bar Pinxto, and was the chef/owner of short-lived contemporary diner Rudy & Hudson, both of which are now closed.

Eater previously reported that the Le Petit Bistro space was to be called Tom’s Place, though that has obviously since changed to Pacifique. And while no menus are publicly available just yet, a few food shots seem to show off some seafood-focused Continental fare. Eater reached out to Miller and Herzer for comment and possible menus, but so far neither has responded.
