An egg-themed pop up is coming to Los Angeles. Who asked for this?
The latest in a long line of Instagram-ready pop-up exhibits to come to the West Coast is themed around a food you don’t usually think of as photogenic: eggs.
Even among the brunch foods, eggs are far less photographable than their pancake and waffle counterparts. But perhaps luckily, The Egg House doesn’t take its egg theme too literally.
And now they’re set to open a 12,000-square-foot pop-up in downtown Los Angeles.
The Egg House spokesperson was tight-lipped on what the inside of the LA pop-up will look like, though we can make some guesses based on previous locations in New York and Shanghai (see gallery above). At those spots, there were yellow and white ball pits reminiscent of the Museum of Ice Cream’s famous sprinkle pool, a trampoline made to look like a frying pan, and a swing made to look like an eggplant. See what I meant about not taking the theme too literally?

The New York Times described its local Egg House outpost as filled with “eggy aromas” and sounds. It’s not clear if that was meant as a compliment.
All we know about the California location is there will be 15 scenes, one of which will be themed around the Staples Center where the Los Angeles Lakers play. Another will feature the famous Santa Monica Pier.
There will also be five “snack stations” serving “egg themed pick-me-ups,” whatever that means.
Like other popular “museums” of this sort, the exhibits are light on information, heavy on interactive backdrops made for taking pictures. And it appears that’s what the people want these days. The Museum of Ice Cream recently announced they’re staying in San Francisco permanently. A similar pop-up concept, Candytopia, followed in its footsteps and opened across the street.
Tickets for The Egg House will go on sale at the end of January and the exhibit will run February through April. The Egg House couldn’t confirm the price of tickets at time of publication.
No word on if they plan to expand to San Francisco … yet.
