Cafe on Larchmont
Check out this sunny new French cafe in Larchmont. It’s called, naturally, Cafe Parisien, and it’s working a menu of mostly classics from moules frites to salads, sandwiches, coffee, and baked goods. According to the Larchmont Chronicle, the cafe comes by way of owner Sebastien Cornic, owner of Culver City’s Meet in Paris. The restaurant takes over for the closed Prado, which shuttered after 28 years.
And another one
French-leaning cafe and bakery Yellow Vase is opening inside South Coast Plaza in Orange County next month. The popular spot will do macarons, breakfast goodies, and more.
The roast
Underground outdoor dining club Logmeh is back with a spit-roasted lamb feast out in Venice. Tickets for the late January event are live now.

No more Italian
Meanwhile, Modo Mio has closed in Sherman Oaks. The former La Frite space flipped in 2017, but now word has come down that they shuttered at the end of December.
Sad times
The Long Beach Post is out to find the saddest restaurant closure in its fair city, asking readers to choose between 2018 shutters like Bigmista’s and and old-time losses like Hindquarters and Hof’s Huts.

The Taco City podcast is back with a new episode, this time focusing on Smorgasburg vendor Mid-East Tacos, from the family behind Glendale’s Mini Kabob.
Back in action
Former Wolfdown chef Susan Yoon is back in action with two pop-up runs at Cafe Demitasse in Little Tokyo. The toast-focused daytime events start up at 11 a.m. this week, Thursday through Saturday. It’s on for next weekend, too.
