Manchester’s music scene has seen a gratuitous rise over the past fifty-odd years, giving rise to the likes of The Smiths, New Order, Joy Division, and even Oasis. With the exponential rise of music and the ability to create well-rounded, democratically-offered sounds has come a flood of new artists that seek to propel from their fruitful beginnings. One of these new acts is Badgirl$, a group that released a grunge-centered, hip-hop-infused debut project, Bethnal, earlier this year. The group’s most forward-hitting sound profile is an eclectically murky mix of trap-inspired indie music that remains just as mesmerizing as it is experimental. Now the group seems more motivated than ever to continue in developing with their sound, releasing a brand new single and accompanying music video for their latest single, “Stella."
Honing in on their 2000s punk rock sound, the music video for “Stella” sees the three members — codenamed Cooks, Bubz, and Billi — vining in the way they do best — littered with punk-tinged clothes, smoking cigarettes, and singing voraciously in a dark bedroom. You can listen to the track and watch the video for “Stella” above.
For more music news, Doja Cat recently dropped a new “Juicy” remix featuring Tyga.
