Danish designer Astrid Andersen has just collaborated with XHIBITION for a new sportswear-inspired collection.
With Anderson’s guidance, the offerings have taken a basketball influence due to the fact that, "the fusion of luxury and sport was always such an integral part of (Andersen’s) life." Pieces include T-shirts, track pants and lightweight jackets. Notably, the track pants and lightweight jackets feature reflective 3M stripes, reminiscent of Anderson’s SS19 collection. Andersen explains her experiences with growing up during a time when both rappers and sports players became cultural icons below:
Growing up in the ’90s — when hip hop music really became mainstream and sports athletes became the true superstars — all of that created new aspirational codes within our generation. So for luxury and sport to become more than a trend I think was inherent to our generation and I’m happy to see how fashion is now ready for new interpretations and avenues.
The collection will officially release on March 14. Stay tuned for more details on where the collection can be found.
