Q: Are there any fish in Silver Lake?
A: No. For 100 years both humans and birds drank from the man-made lake, but the city has dispensed with open reservoirs.
Plans are underway to reimagine the 96-acre lake as a recreational facility. Years from now we might see fishing or even paddleboats like in Echo Park, but in the meantime, the Department of Water and Power continues to monitor the water quality and assures me that the lake remains fish free.
