Following the release of a cryptic teaser last week, Apple has released an official trailer of its upcoming newsroom drama The Morning Show, showcasing footage from the series alongside an overview of what viewers can expect.
The series follows Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy, a longtime co-anchor who becomes the main after lead anchor Mitch Kessler (played by Steve Carell) gets fired over severe career-ending "allegations." However, behind the scenes, the network is looking for someone newer and younger to work alongside Aniston as her character is declared to have passed her “sell-by date.” This ends in Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) joining her as co-anchor.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Morning Show:
What happens when the people you trust to tell the truth prove themselves to be dishonest? The Morning Show follows the free fall of an early morning newscast in the wake of a scandal, and its struggle to survive in an era when news arrives in the palm of your hand. The Morning Show stars Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon, Emmy winner Jennifer Aniston and Golden Globe winner Steve Carell in a high-stakes drama that pulls back the curtain on the morning news.
The Morning Show has already gon through three showrunners over the course of its first 10-episode season, and although the previous trailer announced a Fall debut window, the trailer above does not specify a release date.
In other entertainment news, the teaser for the final season of Silicone Valley pokes fun at internet privacy and user data.
