Early June marks the beginning of Pride Month, a global celebration of the LGBTQ+ movement and its legacy. Select adidas models like the Ozweego and Continental 80 have already surfaced in thematic rainbow makeups — now, the German sportswear giant is introducing a complete range of "Love Unites"-themed goods in time for the festivities, bolstered by a financial donation to The Trevor Project.
“We believe through sport, we have the power to change lives,” said adidas Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Emmy Negrin, said in a statement. “Real, positive change is possible when you harness the influence of sport. It’s on all of us to help create a world in which everyone feels safe and can show up as their authentic, unapologetic selves. We see you and we celebrate you, during Pride month and every single day all year long.”
The Ultraboost 19, Nizza, Ozweego, Continental 80, Temper Run and Adilette slides all feature bold rainbow accents. The sneakers match a variety of bold tracksuits, shirts and shorts, emblazoned with thematic gradient logos and stitching against muted monochrome base colors. A host of Trefoil-rich hats, bags and socks complete the clothing, modeled by drag performer Flawless Shade, artist Ace Troy, Kiki House of Flora founder Brandon Harrison, musician The Last Artful, Dodgr, pro soccer player Taylor Smith and DJ Venus X in the campaign shots and short film.
Along with the collection, adidas will partner with the Brooklyn Museum for a special First Saturdays event on June 1, showcasing the works of 22 LGBTQ+ artists paying tribute to the 1969 Stonewall Uprising. Keeping in line with the artistic events, adidas will deliver Keith Haring-indebted Rivalry Hi, Nizza Hi and Stan Smith shoes, all emblazoned with the queer artist’s signature black-silhouetted figures and splashes of color.
The "Pride" pack drops June 1 on adidas’s website and stores, while the Keith Haring collection launches on June 29 at select retailers. Take a first look at the Haring-inspired sneakers below.
