BAPE‘s more mature AAPE sub-label serves up a multi-part collection blending a variety of disparate influences into a cohesive array of street-gear. Divided into four images per style, the lookbook showcases three distinct themes: "GAME WORLD," "TESTING" and "HIP POP."
"GAME WORLD" kicks off the lookbook with video game-influenced layering pieces, realized by way of reflective accents, slick graphics and weatherproof outerwear. Taped seams and hidden pockets lend functionality to the clothes, while tactical cargo vests, velcro-hem track pants and black safari caps reaffirm the practical looks. Meanwhile, "HIP POP" is a laid-back array of loose-cut layers, with AAPE’s signature camouflage and Ape Head logo given place of preference. Washed-out denim and yellow bucket hats alike are emblazoned with the brand’s recognizable imagery, while T-shirts and varsity-style jackets are executed in slouchy cuts.
Rounding out the range, "TESTING" represents an on-trend approach to AAPE’s trademark creations. Industrial orange informs the garments, with AAPE branding to match. Long-sleeved shirts, half-zip anoraks, hoodies, camouflage pants and caps all sport the unmissable hue, with accompanying gear executed in no-nonsense black. Workmanlike logos and graphics accent all "TESTING" items, including duct tape-like patches, branded hem tags and a small "a" emblem hidden inside a bomber-style T-shirt sleeve pocket.
AAPE’s Spring 2019 gear hits the brand’s Hong Kong stores on March 1.
Most recently, the core BAPE imprint dropped a selection of throwback "Busy Works" gear.
