Asso Pasta Bar & Wine opens this Monday
Blossom, Silver Lake’s Vietnamese charmer, closed with a whisper in late-January, leaving the space empty with no explanation. A pasta-focused newcomer took over the space only days later, giving the restaurant a light refresh and a menu filled with pasta. Asso Pasta Bar & Wine starts serving this Monday.
Asso will make fresh pastas made in the open top-floor kitchen, which will join Eastside pasta restaurants Alimento and Kettle Black. The menu features carbs all day with cacio e pepe, tagliatelle al ragu bolognese, lasagne, and carbonara, along with a zucchini and shrimp with gnocchi’s baby cousin, gnochetti. Multiple bruschetta make their way on the menu, and there’s an on-trend radicchio salad too. For dessert, expect gelato, sorbetto, affogato, and tiramisu.
While the upstairs open kitchen will be utilized for dining, the owners transformed the speakeasy-esque bottom floor into a lounge where it’ll serve wine, Italian and California beers.
These LA newcomers are all Italian-born and Asso is their first local venture. Owner Alessandro Paciotti brought chefs Alex Campedelli and Angelo Neroni from New York, where Campedelli took the kitchen’s helm at New York’s Sola Pasta Bar. Hours are from 12 p.m. until 11 p.m. daily.
