Since time is precious in this fast paced city we curate a list of things to do in Los Angeles for every weekend that’ll help you decide how you want to spend your limited supply of attention (not to mention dollars!).
This weekend, from Friday, April 5 to Sunday, April 7 features Masters of Taste, the LA Beer Fest, The Brewery Artwalk and Open Studios, Corgi Beach Day, Foodie Con, Shakespeare Day at Huntington Library, and MUCH more.

Friday April 5th, 2019
1. First Fridays return to the Natural History Museum this Friday for an after hours party with DJs, cocktails and food. The event will explore the forces of nature focused on drought this month.
2. Enjoy a Passover-themed evening at Skirball Cultural Center this Friday. In partnership with the nonprofit Miry’s List, Rabbi Sarah Bassin (Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills) will welcome everyone with the Passover story and tie the experience of refugees today. Guests will then enjoy wine and an elaborate Syrian dinner inspired by the Passover tradition prepared by a family who recently resettled in Los Anegeles. Evan Kleiman of KCRW’s Good Food will also moderate a discussion with the chefs about their arrival stories.
3. If Halloween and horror movies are your favorite topics then I Like Scary Movies Experience will be just what you’re looking for. Guests can expect to see, hear, feel, and smell recreations of iconic moments from IT (2017), Beetlejuice, The Shining, The Lost Boys, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. There won’t be costumed actors jumping out trying to startle but there will be multi-sensory surprises along your winding path. The pop up experience runs April 4 through June 16 Thursday through Sunday.
4. The Griffith Observatory hosts a monthly forum where some of the most amazing phenomena in the known universe are explained and discussed. It’s called All Space Considered and it takes place on the first Friday of every month. FREE
5. Open Fist’s presents its annual “political pop-up” featuring a rotating roster of short plays that explore the nation’s current social and political climate and how the past year has affected us all. For this show only, the audience will relax on cozy couches in a speakeasy setting at Atwater Village Theatre. The show runs on weekends until April 13.
6. First Fridays in Long Beach will throw a County Fair with fair food, a pie eating contest, local vendors, art, live music, a storytelling farmer and more.
7. Get up close and personal with sharks at the Aquarium of the Pacific during Shark Lagoon Nights. Guests will have the opportunity to touch bamboo sharks and view large sharks in an after hours setting. FREE
8. The 21st Annual NOIR CITY: HOLLYWOOD film festival continues at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood through April 7.
9. Petersen Automotive Museum will host a free screening of Oil in the Blood in their William E. Connor Penthouse. Guests can meet the filmmakers and enjoy light refreshments during the event. FREE
10. Don’t Tell Comedy pops up in Mid City at a secret location with some of the biggest names in comedy. Performers are kept under wraps and the location will be emailed to all ticket holders. BYOB!
11. The 26th annual Carnaval Primavera presented by the Greater Huntington Park Area Chamber of Commerce will be held on Pacific Blvd., between Gage Ave. to Slauson Ave. Expect business exhibits, food, arts and crafts, live performances, a children’s sidewalk chalk art contest, and amusement rides for all ages.
12. Decompress at Mystic Journey Crystals in Venice with a crystal sound bath that combines original compositions and performances with crystal singing bowls.
13. Rooftop Cinema Club returns to the rooftops of LEVEL in DTLA and NeueHouse in Hollywood with multiple screenings this week that include A Star is Born, Pretty Women, and more.
14. Since its the first Friday of the month check out all the cool events happening around town including block parties and art walks for First Fridays.
15. Desert X returns for its bi-annual public art show February 9 through April 21. Spread throughout the Coachella Valley in various locations, artists are commissioned to use the desert landscape as their canvas with breathtaking results.

Saturday April 6th, 2019
17. The Brewery Artwalk and Open Studios returns to Brewery Artist Lofts April 6-7 for its bi-annual open studio exhibit at the world’s largest art complex. Gathering over 100 participating resident artists, attendees can check out new works, meet artists, and buy artwork. FREE
18. Huntington Library is hosting Shakespeare Day an afternoon honoring the Bard in the gardens. The event features family-friendly performances and interactive fun with members of LA Opera, A Noise Within, the Independent Shakespeare Company, and the Guild of St. George.
19. Corgi Beach Day (also known as “Corgchella”) comes to Huntington Dog Beach on Saturday for fun in the sun with hundreds of adorable pups. All dogs and humans are welcome on this beach day and vendors, food trucks, costume contests and more will keep the party going. FREE
20. City of STEM comes to the Columbia Memorial Space Center to launch the largest science program in Los Angeles. The event features free STEM activities and special guests, planetarium shows, VR experiences, mobile labs and museums, robot soccer, engineering workshops, live entertainment and the list goes on. FREE
21. Jazz Tracks comes to Union Station to honor Jazz History Month. Metro Art will partner with KJazz 88.1 FM for a special evening of live jazz with an array of talented artists, headlined by acclaimed jazz trumpeter Christian Scott. FREE
22. Renegade Craft Los Angeles takes over the Los Angeles State Historic Park April 6 – 7 with a massive spring marketplace. The fair features over 200 local and national makers and designers. FREE
23. There’s a meditation walk at White Point Nature Preserve in San Pedro this Saturday morning. The walk begins at 9 a.m. and runs 50 to 75 minutes.
24. The 11th Annual L.A. Beer Fest returns to Los Angeles Center Studios in Downtown L.A. for a refreshing afternoon showcasing dozens of international and domestic beers.
25. The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire returns April 6 through May 19 (Saturday and Sundays) at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale for another year of fantasy and fun. 27. Descanso Gardens will host a Night Garden event fun for all ages centered around the beauty of flowers. Guests will enjoy DIY flower crowns, live music, gardening demos, food and more.
28. A Current Affair is a pop-up vintage marketplace with a highly curated list of vendors from all over the state is taking over the Cooper Design Space in DTLA from April 6-7.

37. DTLA First Sundays is a community brunch meet-up that’s being going strong for five years. This Sunday they’ll host a five-year anniversary celebration at Imperial Western Beer Company featureing the usual fun vibes and jams, along with a special oyster eating contest.
38. The Front Yard Spring Beer & Wine Block Party will feature live music, a pop-up shopping soiree, gourmet food samplings, and beer and wine tastings from California purveyors.
39. The second annual Wags & Walks Healthy Pets & People Wellness Fair returns for a fun day featuring chair massages, photo booth, health & wellness vendors for dogs and humans, giveaways and dog adoptions. FREE

41. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County welcomes the traveling exhibition Antarctic Dinosaurs to Southern California from April 3, 2019 through January 5, 2020.
42. The Egg House visits Los Angeles March 20 – April 28 for an egg-themed, 12,000-square-foot pop-up multi-sensory experience showcasing a series of installations and activations around egg themed creations. Open Wednesday through Sunday.
