Panera Bread employees sometimes have to deal with perplexing or irksome requests and behavior from diners. It’s a reality that just comes with the territory in the restaurant industry.
That being said, when Business Insider spoke to a group of Panera employees, several said that, by and large, the fast-casual restaurant chain’s patrons are quite pleasant.

"While there are some exceptions, Panera Bread customers are some of the nicest I’ve seen anywhere," one employee told Business Insider.
But the workers also described certain customer habits or preferences that they tend to find cringeworthy.
Here’s what you should avoid doing in Panera if you don’t want to get judged by employees:
One thing that’ll get you a "big cringe" from employees is rudeness at the register. A Panera worker said that some people "blatantly ignore us or start ordering" after employees have asked how they’re doing.

"When customers are rude, it immediately makes the staff not care about their order," a different Panera employee said.

Another worker added that they cringe at discourteousness from people who don’t say thank you to employees who’ve held the restaurant door open for them, as well as customers who don’t move out of the way of employees "carrying dishes or a delivery."
